Kitchen-sink-clogged-after-snaking, i have been working on unclogging our kitchen sink for the past 3 hours. i have probably snaked it 10 times with a 1/4" snake and also bought some sodium hydroxide to pour down it. waited 1 hour. Step 1: get the right tools to start if you’ve got a kitchen sink clogged or a garbage disposal clogged, it can wreck a perfectly good evening in front of the tube. instead of settling in to watch the series, you’ll find yourself staring at a sink full of dirty, backed-up water and wondering whether to call in a plumber ($$$$$)., before unclogging kitchen sinks with standing water, use a cup or basin to remove the water. some methods may require the addition of fresh water. always try plunging first. small clogs can often be dislodged with a cup plunger.a simple plunger with a flat rim, it creates a seal over the sink hole to apply the pressure needed to dislodge the clog..

The first step to snaking will be to disconnect the p-trap from under the kitchen sink. the trap is held together by friction washers and slip nuts. before loosening any of the nuts, place a small bucket or pan under the trap to catch the water that will be in it., 8. plumber's snake. sometimes called an auger, this handy tool can clear clogs that may be stuck further down the system. you’ll have to disassemble the drainpipe and p-trap that runs underneath the kitchen sink to expose the “stub pipe” or “stubout” that travels behind the cabinet wall..

The dos and don’ts of clearing a clogged sink unclogging your kitchen or bathroom sink doesn’t have to be a job for the professionals. before you try breaking up the blockage yourself ..., insert the snake into the drain pipe where you removed the trap (easier than from the drain in the bottom of the sink), and when you meet resistance, rotate the snake clockwise. if it begins to move forward easily again, you have likely just hit a turn in the pipe. if not, continue to turn and gently push forward to cut through and clear the clog..

Three-step method. when the water in your kitchen sink won’t drain or drains slowly, don’t reach for the chemical drain cleaner. instead, try this three-step method recommended by one of our favorite plumbers to unclog a kitchen sink., the black stuff coming through your sink's drain may be sewage backing up through all of the drainpipes in the house. normally, backed-up sewage comes through the drains in a basement first, since this is generally the lowest part of the house..

Thanks for the reply. definitely not the tailpiece, i can literally see through it to the cabinet below when i remove the trap. as for the bladder, i could try it, but i'm not really finding any noticeable blockage with the auger so i don't have a high confidence that the bladder will do much.
